Considerations for bringing a service animal to LHSC
LHSC supports the right of the individual to be accompanied by a service animal, except where excluded by law. We ask that patients and visitors please have your service animal clearly identified (e.g. identification care, harness, jacket). For the safety of the service animal, the owner is responsible for its complete care (e.g. feeding, bathroom breaks, etc), supervision, and stewardship (e.g. is kept on an appropriate lead) while on the premises. Additional information regarding service animals presence at LHSC is under development. Please contact the Office of Inclusion & Social Accountability by emailing inclusionsocialaccountability@lhsc.on.ca or calling 519-685-8500 ext. 75905 for questions in the meantime.
Use of Personal Assistive Devices
Aligning with our commitment to respecting each person’s dignity and right to independence, LHSC is equipped with assistive devices to empower individuals to receive the care they need. If you require the use of an assistive device, such as a wheelchair, lift, or communication aid and wonder if we have what you need on-site, please contact the Office of Inclusion & Social Accountability by emailing inclusionsocialaccountability@lhsc.on.ca or calling 519-685-8500 ext. 75905.
