For four to six weeks (as directed by your surgeon) following surgery, you will not be allowed to drive a vehicle. As a result, it is very important for you to have transportation arranged to take you to and from the hospital for your surgery and also to appointments with your surgeon, family physician and physiotherapist.
Transportation from Hospital
If you are going to another hospital after surgery, transportation will be arranged for you.
If you are going to a long-term care facility, retirement home or private residence, you are responsible for arranging and paying for your transportation home. Discharges can occur at any time, seven days a week. We ask that you arrange your pick-up from the hospital by 11:00 a.m. on the day of discharge.

Transportation When Home
After surgery you may qualify for an accessible parking permit which will allow you to park in a designated accessible parking space. Please visit Service Ontario for more information.
