It’s a boy! London Health Sciences Centre (LHSC) is pleased to announce the first baby of 2022 has arrived at 12:01 a.m., weighing 6lb 8oz. Baby Niall is welcomed by mom Christine Elgar and dad, Ben Monis. Mom and baby are doing well.
As we leave 2021 behind and move into 2022, LHSC is proud to acknowledge the hard work of all staff and physicians across the hospital this past year, including the labour and delivery team. Here are a few of their accomplishments:
- From April 2020 to November 2021, LHSC welcomed 9,770 “pandemic births”
- In July 2021 LHSC set a new record when the medical team delivered 561 newborns; the hospital’s highest monthly total on record
- LHSC welcomes on average more than 5,700 newborns each year
To welcome the first baby of 2022, the pharmacist-owners of London and area Shoppers Drug Mart stores generously donated a large gift basket for mom and Niall.
Shoppers Drug Mart has proudly served London and the surrounding region for more than 25 years. As a part of their ongoing commitment to the health and well-being of women in their community, the pharmacist-owners and staff of Shoppers Drug Mart stores are pleased to welcome the first baby of the New Year to London.
LHSC and London Health Sciences Foundation would like to thank Shoppers Drug Mart for their generous donation of the gift basket. In addition to the Shoppers Drug Mart gift basket, Children's Health Foundation included a baby onesie and a teddy bear, and London Health Sciences Foundation contributed a handcrafted baby blanket for the first-born baby of the New Year.
