Ontario has appointed me as the Supervisor for London Health Sciences Centre (LHSC). I want to begin by acknowledging the trust that has been placed in me to help guide this esteemed organization through its next chapter.
My mission, much like my role as Acting and Interim President and CEO, is to support and enhance the work that has already been done at LHSC, not to disrupt or overturn it. During this time, all our regular operations, including the exceptional programs and services we provide patients and this community, will continue.
I will be working with the government to strengthen the governance, accountability and ability of our organization to deliver the best care possible to the communities we serve.
What This Appointment Means
The decision to appoint a Supervisor is not taken lightly. It signifies a commitment to ensuring that London Health Sciences Centre continues to serve its patients and community with the highest standards of care.
I want to be clear in saying this is not about our dedicated team members. This is about having the right leadership and the right governance, right now. It will not disrupt the excellent patient care provided by our physicians, nurses and staff each and every day, but rather, to support and enhance it.
Working closely with the executive team and the professional staff leaders of the Medical Advisory Committee, I am here to help build on the progress already made and to ensure that London Health Sciences Centre remains a beacon of health-care excellence in our region and Province.
Collaboration is Key
One of the core principles that will guide my work here is collaboration. I am not here to make decisions in isolation. I am here to work hand in hand with the exceptional leadership already in place at London Health Sciences Centre. We are leaving no stone unturned. The new executive team and the Medical Advisory Committee are integral to the hospital’s success, and their insights and expertise will continue to be central to our strategy moving forward. As always, I am at LHSC to listen and support frontline staff and the exceptional care they provide our patients and community.
Engaging with the Community
Actions speak louder than words, and I am hopeful that my time at LHSC to date demonstrates that I am committed to transparency and open communication. This approach is critical, especially during times of change. I want to assure everyone that there will be regular, at least monthly, check-ins with the community. These updates will serve as a forum for sharing our progress, addressing concerns, and making sure that we remain aligned with the needs and expectations of the people we serve.
In addition, I am committed to establishing a Community Advisory Committee. This committee will be a vital link between the hospital and the community, providing me with direct feedback and advice as we navigate the path forward together. Your voices will be heard, and your input will shape the decisions we make.
Recognizing Progress and the Road Ahead
I want to take a moment to acknowledge the tremendous progress that has been made since I joined LHSC. We’ve made significant strides to streamline operations and strengthen our partnerships. This progress is a testament to the dedication and hard work of the entire London Health Sciences Centre team. I am incredibly proud of what we have already been able to accomplish.
We also know there is still more to be done. The journey is ongoing, and while we celebrate the successes, we must remain focused on the tasks ahead. Together, we will continue to build on the solid foundation that has been laid and push forward with determination and a shared vision.
Moving Forward—Together
In closing, I want to emphasize that this is a collective effort. The success of London Health Sciences Centre depends on all of us—staff, patients, community members, and leadership—working together towards a common goal. I am committed to doing everything in my power to ensure that we continue to thrive, to innovate, and to provide the best possible care to our community.
