At LHSC Adult Eating Disorders Service patients WILL NOT normally be monitored medically during outpatient services. Thus, our recommendation is that they be medically monitored by their family physician.
A general guideline for visits to the family physician would be every 2-6 weeks. This may need to be more frequent if the patients weight is very low or if they are highly symptomatic.
They should always see their doctor or go to the emergency room for any immediate concerns like chest pain, palpitations, blood in vomit or stool, seizures, or fainting. During the outpatient services, the patient's medication will be monitored and prescribed by their family physician. Refills will not be provided by our team.
