Dr. Anna Gunz is a paediatric intensive care doctor at Children's Hospital and Founding Medical Director of ChEHC ON. The clinical service directly relates to her other advocacy and research endeavors in Planetary Health that spans health monitoring of climate change, meaningful supports for youth with eco-distress, and increasing community and healthcare facilities' understanding & action in planetary health, including the holistic benefit of nature-based solutions. | |
Dr. Kawmadi Abeytunge is a Pediatrics resident at Western University with a strong interest in environmental health and health equity. Connecting with nature has been an integral part of her own wellness and she has seen the benefits that time with nature has for patients. She is thrilled to be working with ChEHC and helping develop the Prescriptions for Nature program at Children’s Hospital. | |
Dr. Francisco Olea-Popelka is an Associate Professor in the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, and is the Beryl Ivey Endowed Chair in One Health at Western University. Dr. Olea-Popelka completed his DVM at Universidad Mayor in Santiago, Chile and completed both his MSc and PhD at the Ontario Veterinary College at the University of Guelph. His main research area focuses on zoonotic tuberculosis in a variety of species. | |
Dr. Lisa Cameron is an Associate Professor in the Department of Microbiology and Immunology at Western University. She completed her PhD at McGill University and went on to a complete a PostDoc at the University of Arizona. Dr. Cameron’s research focuses on the role of T cells and immune genes in inflammatory disease. | |
Dr. Andrea Ens is a Paediatric Endocrinologist at Children’s Hospital and is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Paediatrics at the Schulich School of Medicine at Western University. Dr. Ens has a medical degree from Western University and completed her residency program at the IWK Health Centre in Halifax. She also has a Master’s in Education from the University of Toronto which she completed concurrently with a fellowship program in Paediatric Endocrinology at the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto. Her research interests focus on medical education in the areas of curriculum design, competency-based education, and health literacy. | |
Dr. Maryam Nabavi-Nouri is an assistant professor at Western University’s Schulich School of Medicine and a Paediatric Neurologist at Children’s Hospital. After completing her medical degree at Iran University of Medical Sciences, Dr. Nouri completed her residency at the Hospital for Sick Children at Toronto and a fellowship in Neurophysiology/Pediatric epilepsy at the University of British Columbia. Dr. Nouri is interested in understanding the pathophysiology of autoimmune causes of epilepsy. | |
Dr. Isaac Luginaah is a Distinguished Professor and the Canada Research Chair in Health Geography in the Department of Geography and the Environment at Western University. He completed his PhD in Geography at McMaster University and his research interests include environment and health, population health, and GIS applications in health. | |
Dr. Alex Summers is the Medical Officer of Health at the Middlesex-London Health Unit. He completed his training in public health and preventive medicine at the University of Toronto and holds a Masters of Public Health from the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. | |
Dr. Shazeen Suleman is an Assistant Professor at the University of Toronto and a staff physician at St. Michael’s Hospital in the Department of Pediatrics, Outreach Services. She received her medical degree from the University of British Columbia and completed her residency at the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto. She also has a Master’s of Public Health from the Bloomberg School of Public Health at John Hopkins University. | |
Dr. Facundo Garcio-Bournissen is a pediatrician and is an Associate Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at Western University’s Schulich School of Medicine. He completed his medical degree at the University of Buenos Aires before moving to Montreal to complete his post-graduate training at Hôpital Ste. Justine. He did his PhD, clinical pharmacology fellowship, and clinician scientist training at The Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto. He is interested in understanding the clinical pharmacology of medications in pediatrics, pregnancy, and lactation. | |
Dr. Sandra Giangioppo is a Pediatric Respirologist and the Asthma Program Lead at the Children’s Hospital, London Health Sciences. She is proud to be the respirology liaison with the Children’s Environmental Health Clinic in London. Her areas of interest include evaluation of difficult asthma cases from an environmental health history perspective and climate conscious inhaler prescribing. | |
Dr. Eric Lavigne is a senior Epidemiologist at Health Canada, scientist with the CANUE registry and Adjunct Professor, University of Ottawa. His research evaluates how human health is affected by atmospheric systems, including air pollution and weather. | |
Dr. Patricia Hall is the Chair/Site Chief of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at Children’s Hospital, Western University. Dr. Hall completed her medical degree at the University of Ottawa before completing her residency in Psychiatry at Western University’s Schulich School of Medicine. She later created and implemented the first Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Subspecialty Program at Western and was the Program Director from 2010-2020. In 2020, Dr. Hall also developed a clinic to improve access to urgent psychiatry consultations and decrease time spent in the emergency department. |
