This symposium is designed for physiotherapists and health care professionals who work with an orthopaedic population. The focus will be on innovative orthopaedic surgical techniques and new trends in rehabilitation for patients following lower extremity surgery. Topics that will be discussed include:
- exercise prescription
- dosing and functional rehabilitation for the active, lower extremity post surgical patient
- the role of soft tissue release following surgery; pedorthic assessment and treatment of leg length discrepancy after total hip replacement
- the Anterior Approach for total hip replacement
- rehabilitation and functional testing for determination of return to sport and new surgical approaches for lower extremity cartilaginous injuries of the knee.
