Program Description:
- The Critical Care Trauma Centre is a multidisciplinary medical/surgical unit that provides life support and treatment of critically ill patients
- CCTC is the Regional Referral Centre for Trauma and Vascular Programs
- The unit supports the Trauma Program, Vascular, Thoracic, Oncology and ENT
programs.

Nurse to patient ratio: 1:1, 1:2
Hospital Site: Victoria Hospital: Level 2
Scheduling Information:
- 12 hour shifts (0700-1900, 1900-0700) with a variety of schedule options including 2- Days/ 2-Nights with 5 off and the traditional 2 and 3 master schedule
- Regular Part time master schedules
Background Essentials:
- Minimum of 1-2 years acute surgical or medical experience or previous critical care experience
- Basic ECG interpretation
Professional Assets:
- BCLS, ACLS, any critical care course(s)
Professional Development:
- 10 – 12 week orientation (theory and clinical)
- Annual CCTC conference
- Every 2 years staff participate in a review test which is case based - Skills fairs are provided for staff on an annual basis
- Funding for professional development available from the CCTC Research and Education Committee
Student Consolidation:
- Currently consolidate post RN BScN student
- Manager and Clinical Educator roles participate in BScN consolidation and mentoring experience
