Welcome to Personalized Medicine at London Health Science Centre (LHSC), located in London, Ontario. You are an important part of your healthcare team and our goal in the design of this information is to ensure that patients, caregivers and family members can easily locate and understand information that is important to their care.
In accordance with the hospital’s vision statement – Working together to shape the future of health – Personalized Medicine, which is led by Dr. Richard Kim, at LHSC is committed to patient care, teaching, and research. LHSC is home to the first Personalized Medicine Clinic in Canada which incorporates the latest technologies in the area of pharmacogenomics and drug level analysis technologies to deliver individualized care to our patients. In addition, our program provides training to future healthcare professionals to gain a solid background in principles of drug action, adverse drug reactions, drug-drug interactions, and the emerging field of Personalized Medicine.
Personalized Medicine at LHSC is unique as it is also the home to the Personalized Medicine Research Laboratory led by Dr. Richard Kim. Our research is aimed at better understanding the molecular determinants of interindividual variation in drug response. The results of our research can then be used in the Personalized Medicine Clinic to help predict adverse drug reactions as well as determine the right dose of medications required for optimal benefit based on an individual’s genetic makeup.
