Our exceptional staff includes our
pharmacists, who care for their community as
they continue to innovate for the world. They
possess the energy, drive and compassion
needed to pursue excellence in patient-care
and health care innovation. They follow a
patient-centred model of care that provides
high levels of patient satisfaction and, in turn,
enhances their own job satisfaction. They
contribute their highly valued knowledge and
skills in a team-oriented environment that
  fosters and encourages professional growth
  and development.
  Enjoy a Variety of Challenges
Upon completion of four weeks of comprehensive orientation, our pharmacists will discover a variety of challenges in their daily practice. On any given day, they may engage in one-on-one patient care, review medication orders, participate in rounds with other health care professionals, and perform patient discharge planning. Their vast knowledge of new and existing drugs, their sensitivity toward patients and their commitment to excellence make our pharmacists key figures in achieving optimal drug outcomes for patients and enhancing their quality of life.
As a tertiary and quaternary care centre,
we provide pharmacists with a wide range
of areas in which to practice. They may
  find themselves working with children
with acquired brain injury, adults with cardiovascular disease or seniors requiring
plastic surgery. They may also take advantage
of the unique opportunity to work in our
regional renal transplantation program – a
service offered at only a handful of hospitals
  in Ontario.
  Learn, Grow, Excel
As a pharmacist at LHSC, you’ll enjoy
  ongoing opportunities to enhance
your practice, learn new skills and
  grow professionally. Journal clubs, skill
development seminars, and our annual drug
therapy update conference are just a few
  of the professional development initiatives
  available on-site. Pharmacists wishing to
  attend industry-related conferences in North
America or Europe may take advantage of a
paid leave of absence and financial support
for registration costs. An education budget
may be accessed by pharmacists wishing to
  pursue their doctoral degrees.
Pharmacists at LHSC also learn by sharing
their knowledge and expertise with others.
  Our pharmacists provide hands-on education
and mentoring to the four residents and six
  fourth-year undergraduate pharmacy students
from the University of Toronto who complete
their studies here each year. They also help
shape the practice of pharmacy at the hospital
by participating in a variety of committees
  and working groups. Opportunities to
  participate in innovative hospital research
projects also allow pharmacists to guide
policy and practice at the hospital. Over time,
pharmacists may advance in their careers to
work in clinical or operational leadership
  positions.
  Work in a Supportive, Collegial
  Environment
LHSC is committed to providing a safe
and healthy work environment that inspires
  teamwork, respect and professionalism. As
  critical members of the interdisciplinary
  health care team, pharmacists collaborate
  with physicians, nurses, rehab therapists
and other health professionals to develop
  individualized, effective treatment plans for
patients. They enjoy working in a collegial
  environment that is continually fostered
  through hospital-wide and departmentspecific
  staff social events.
