The Children’s Emergency Department is open 24 hours a day, 7 days per week.
We provide specialized care for babies, children and teens up to 18 years of age. All of our physicians and other frontline health care workers have extensive experience providing state-of-the-art emergency care for paediatric patients. We care for approximately 36,000 children per year and serve as the region's Paediatric Trauma Centre.
Location
The Children's Emergency Department is located at Victoria Hospital (800 Commissioners Rd. E.) next to the Adult Emergency Department (Zone D, Level 1).

From Commissioners Rd. E. entrance:
- Turn into hospital grounds and drive straight until you reach the stop sign
- Turn left and drive until you see the red Emergency sign on the building
From Baseline Rd. E. entrance:
- Turn into hospital grounds and proceed to the three-way stop sign
- Turn left at three-way stop and then proceed to the next stop sign
- Turn right and drive ahead until you see red Emergency sign on the building
Virtual Urgent Care
If your child has a medical issue that is NOT life-threatening but requires urgent medical attention, Virtual Urgent Care might be an option for them. Together, you can speak to one of our Children’s emergency doctors or nurse practitioners and determine next steps, which could include seeing your family doctor or coming in-person to the Children’s Hospital Emergency Department.
In the event of a life-threatening emergency, always call 911 or present directly to the Children’s Hospital Emergency Department.
