CCOT is a critical care team consisting of a respiratory therapist, a critical care nurse, and an MSICU physician. The MSICU's CCOT team is lead by Dr. Wael Haddara and Jackie Walker, RN.
They provide critical care support to patients in other areas of the hospital. If a patient’s condition is rapidly worsening, the nurse on the floor can call CCOT for guidance and support.
The CCOT team also provides two days of follow-up rounds to patients who have been discharged from the MSICU to the floor. This program is designed to improve patient outcomes by identifying patients at risk, providing early intervention, and access to critical care resources.
This program was developed with the recognition that critical care is a need, not a place.
