PSAs are a second pair of hands for nurses but do not perform hands on care. They may assist with lifts or turns. They ensure each bedside has enough supplies, and that rooms are regularly cleaned.
TSAs are responsible for the maintenance of the unit beyond the patient rooms: hallways, heavier cleaning, and troubleshooting non-medical equipment.
Both of these roles are vital to the smooth functioning of the MSICU.
