Patient Intake Process for Skin Patients Referred to Verspeeten Family Cancer Centre

If patient has been treated at another cancer centre, details of previous radiotherapy and/or chemotherapy records should be obtained.

Referral to Centre

  1. Request all pathology reports for any skin biopsies (may be verbal at this time).
  2. Transfer referral and diagnostic data to Assistant Supervisor for triage. 
  3. Enough diagnostic data to make appointment?
  4. If yes: Appointment given Medical Oncologist, Radiation Oncologist, or combined. Rest of information requested at this time.
  5. Send letter of confirmation and "Information for New Patients" pamphlet to patients (time permitting).

Enough diagnostic data to make appointment? If no:

  • Obtain additional data as directed by triaging physician/assistant supervisor.
  • Enough diagnostic data to make appointment? If yes: Continue from step 4 above.
  • If no: continue with obtaining additional data as directed by triaging physician/assistant supervisor until yes.
