Gynecology In-Patient Care
Definition: Gynecology refers to the branch of medicine focusing on women’s health care. More specifically, gynecology encompasses the diagnosis and treatment of conditions and disorders affecting the female reproductive organs.
The 19-bed in-patient gynecology department offers post-operative care for women undergoing gynecological procedures. Before any surgery, you will have an appointment with the pre-admission clinic. The pre-admission appointment will cover: what to expect before, during, and after the surgery; how to prepare for the surgery; and information regarding the specific surgery, anesthesia, and recovery. You will also be able to ask any questions you may have regarding your surgery at that time.
Nurses on the Inpatient Gynecology unit assist with your care after your surgery and help you prepare for caring for yourself at home. You may also work with other members of our health care team, which consists of Doctors, Pharmacists, Physiotherapists, Social workers and a Nurse case manager as you recover here in hospital.
