How to Make a Referral to Metabolic Genetics:
Please follow the same referral instructions as the General Pediatric/Adult Genetics clinic.
The Metabolic Genetics clinic is a multi-disciplinary clinic (physicians, genetic counsellor, dietitian, social worker) that manages patients of all ages (pediatric to adult) who might have problems related to developmental delay, processing of protein, carbohydrate and fat metabolism, and disorders of complex molecules such as lysosomal storage disorders. We also have a specialized neurometabolic clinic, and we are a referral center for Newborn Screening in Ontario. Apart from diagnosing, we are also involved in the treatment of metabolic disorders including a Centre of Excellence for therapies such as enzyme replacement.
