aldactazide® (spironolactone-hydrochlorothiazide)

Indication

  • Diuretic used to treat mild to moderate edema and hypertension or chronic lung disease with pulmonary edema

Dosage Guidelines

  • 1-2 mg of each component/kg/dose q12 hours

Administration

  • Oral

Adverse Effects

  • Hyponatremia, hypo/hyperkalemia, hypocalcemia, hypomagnesemia, alkalosis, impaired glucose tolerance, hyperuricemia, vomiting, rash and diarrhea

Comments

  • Monitor serum potassium, sodium, weight change, fluid status and blood pressure
  • Caution in patients with renal or hepatic failure

Supplied As

  • 5 mg/mL oral suspension (each mL contains 5 mg each of hydrochlorothiazide and spironolactone) prepared by Pharmacy.
