polysporin®
Indication
- Treatment of superficial infections involving the conjunctiva or prevention of infection for minor cuts or burns
Dosage Guidelines
- Topical: apply to affected area BID to TID
- Ophthalmic: Instill 1 to 2 drops into each eye q6 hours
Administration
- Topixal
Adverse Effects
- Potential overgrowth of opportunistic organisms such as fungi
Comments
- Ointment is preferable for its protective effect and proven effectiveness
- Cream is most suitable for weeping lesions, although gramicidin has unproven effectiveness against gram-positive organisms
