pyridoxine (Vitamin B6)
Indication
- Diagnosis and treatment of pyridoxine-dependent seizures
Dosage Guidelines
- Initial: 100 mg/dose IV/ORAL
- Maintenance: 50-100 mg ORAL
Administration
- IV: dilute to 50 mg/mL and infuse over 10-15 minutes
- ORAL
Side Effects
- Sensory neuropathy may result from chronic administration of very large doses
Comments
- Consider continuous EEG monitoring
