pyridoxine (Vitamin B6)

Indication

  • Diagnosis and treatment of pyridoxine-dependent seizures

Dosage Guidelines

  • Initial: 100 mg/dose IV/ORAL
  • Maintenance: 50-100 mg ORAL

Administration

  • IV: dilute to 50 mg/mL and infuse over 10-15 minutes
  • ORAL

Side Effects

  • Sensory neuropathy may result from chronic administration of very large doses

Comments

  • Consider continuous EEG monitoring
