At LHSC, we have a comprehensive team of experts to identify, diagnose, treat and follow patients and families with known or suspected HCM.

Physicians

Dr. Andrew Thain, MBChB, MRCP (U.K), FRCP
Dr. Thain is a non-invasive cardiologist with special interests in cardiac imaging, cardiomyopathy and valvular heart disease. Dr. Thain will see patients in the HCM clinic and also read the transthoracic echocardiogram or perform trans-esophageal or stress echocardiography as required.

Dr. Michael Ward, MD, PhD, FRCPC
Dr. Ward is an interventional cardiologist who also has a focus on HCM. He sees patients in the HCM clinic, and also in the cardiac catheterization laboratory, where he performs cardiac catheterizations and alcohol septal ablation procedures for patients with severe obstructive HCM.

Dr. Linrui (Ray) Guo, MD, MSc, FRCSC
Dr. Guo is a Professor of Surgery, and Senior Cardiac Surgeon. He specializes in complex cardiac surgeries with a special expertise in the surgical treatment of HOCM. His research on HOCM involves in utilizing various technology to achieve optimal relief of obstruction.

Genetics

Ms. Susan Conacher, MSc, CCGC
Ms. Conacher is a certified genetic counsellor who provides genetic counselling for the HCM clinic. This involves reviewing the family history organizing genetic testing and making family screening recommendations.
