As wait lists grow and waiting times get longer, for some patients the best chance for a life-saving transplant could be a living donor.
If you are considering living donation, your first step is gathering information. You or a loved one might be thinking about donating to a family member, friend, or even a stranger. This process takes time to find out if donation is right for you, but the outcome could be one of the most rewarding things you do for someone in need.
Living Kidney Donation:
The first living kidney donor and transplant were performed at LHSC in 1975. Since that time, nearly 775 individuals have donated a kidney at LHSC benefiting both loved ones and strangers and strangers alike.
