Participation in continuing education opportunities is highly valued by our speech-language pathologists. The clinicians attend locally hosted programs in addition to international conferences in aphasia, dysphagia, motor speech disorders and head and neck cancer. In order to develop their skill sets, staff are supported to participate in workshops addressing specialized topics such as, tracheosophageal prosthesis insertion, swallowing and communication management of patients with tracheotomies, advanced courses in dysphagia assessment and treatment, and communication facilitation for patients with aphasia. Our speech-language pathologists also receive on-site specialized training in nasoendoscopy for the completion of Fiberoptic Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing (FEES).
