Did You Know Your Baby Would Cry Like This?
The birth of an infant can be a wonderful and exciting time for parents and caregivers. There will be times however, when parents and caregivers feel overwhelmed from changes in their lives. One change that can be difficult is infant crying. Some infants will cry a few minutes each day whereas others will cry for hours each day, and still be normal. (www.dontshake.org)

Program Goals
To educate parents and caregivers about the normal crying characteristics that are common in the first few weeks or months of their baby’s life. The acronym PURPLE helps describe the characters of early infant crying beginning at two weeks up until three to five months.
The program materials include a DVD or access code for an app and an 11 page booklet. The PURPLE program is delivered to all parents after every birth. Maternity nurses are trained to provide this education to each family.
