At 11:05 am on May 9, 2021 the ICU at London Health Sciences Centre’s University Hospital experienced an electrical short in a patient room. The patient was removed quickly from the room and the fire was extinguished by staff. The fire crews arrived on scene to ensure the fire was extinguished and there was no further issues. The smoke has cleared from the unit and the patient room has been closed. The cause of the short is under investigation.
Several other patients were moved as a precaution. No patients or staff were injured in the situation.
