PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT
For Immediate Release:
March 14 , 2014
LONDON, Ontario – This year, many people will be enjoying St. Patrick’s Day festivities throughout the weekend and on Monday March 17. London Health Sciences Centre’s (LHSC) injury prevention team would like to remind everyone to stay safe.
“We know that people will be drinking over this festive weekend,” says Jane Harrington, injury prevention specialist, LHSC. “We want to remind everyone to drink responsibly and to not drink and drive.”
Harrington advises following the tips in Canada’s Low-Risk Alcohol Drinking Guidelines:
- Drink slowly. Have no more than 2 drinks in any 3 hours.
For every drink of alcohol, have one non-alcoholic drink.
Eat before and while you are drinking.
Always consider your age, body weight and health problems that might suggest lower limits.
More tips can be found at http://www.ccsa.ca/Eng/topics/alcohol/drinking-guidelines/Pages/default.aspx
“Developing a plan for sensible drinking can ensure that you and those around you have a safe and fun time,” adds Harrington.
