What to Bring to Hospital

Below are some suggestions on what to bring with you to hospital. These items may not reflect your needs, and they are not required. These are only suggestions.

Personal hygiene items
  • New soft toothbrush
  • Unopened personal hygiene products. For example: tissues, toothpaste, lip balm, and hypoallergenic lotion
  • A selection of new cosmetics (mild or fragrance-free)
  • Electric razor. Safety razors are not permitted given the risk of cuts and infection
  • Electric hair clippers for trimming (if hair starts to fall out)
Clothing
  • Comfortable clothing.
    • Tops with an opening in the front for easy access to your Permcath or Hickman line. Buttoned or V neck tops are best

  • Bathrobe
  • Slippers, or other comfortable footwear
  • Hat, scarf or wig to keep your head warm
  • Clothing to wear when discharged from hospital
General items
  • Photographs of family, friends, pets and favourite places at home. We ask that you put pictures or posters on non-painted surfaces only, such as the bulletin board or white drawing board
  • Posters
  • An "egg-crate" style foam mattress (single bed size)
  • A blanket or quilt
