The Collaborative Metabolic Dysfunction-Associated Steatotic Liver Disease (COMET) Clinic at University Hospital-London Health Sciences Centre brings together experts in liver disease, endocrinology, nutrition, physiotherapy, and behavioural sciences to develop innovative, well-rounded, patient-tailored management plans for patients living with metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD).
We strive to work together with patients to evaluate severity of disease and risk of progression. In addition, we aim to deeply understand our patients’ values, beliefs as well as their medical, surgical, and psychosocial histories to be able to develop multipronged treatment strategies. These include:
- personalized lifestyle interventions and weight management programs,
- medications,
- bariatric procedures,
- cognitive behavioural therapies, and
- others.
Being officially affiliated with one of the best global universities for gastrointestinal and liver disease (Western University) and one of Canada’s top research institutes (Lawson Health Research Institute), the COMET Clinic’s world-class clinician-researchers are at the forefront of MASLD research, offering the latest innovations in MASLD management to our patients.
Many of the clinician-researchers in the COMET Clinic are participating in drug trials and clinical research studies to find a medication that can cure MASLD. If you are interested in participating in a study and in advancing the science, please contact us.
