Patients in CCTC may require the support of other Health Professionals. When needed they will be consulted on a patient specific basis. For example, a patient may require consultation with an Occupational Therpaist who can make splints, wheelchair adjustments or other devices to help the patient to perform activities or rehabilitate.
Speech Language Therapists may be contacted to support communication strategies or to perform swallowing tests to make sure the patient is not choking on secretions.
A variety of technologists participate in the care of patients in CCTC. Examples of diagnostic tests requiring technologist support includes: radiology (xrays), CAT and MRI scans, permanent ECG (heart waves) recordings, EEGs (brain waves) and Echocardgrams (an ultrasound that evaluates the structures and function of the heart).
